Q: I need TIAH now! How can I get the current version?
A: Follow this link to download your copy of TIAH 4 (current release).

Q: What versions of AutoCAD does TIAH work with?
A: TIAH can be used with AutoCAD 2000 through 2007.

Q: What is the quickest / best way to get technical support for TIAH?
A:
By far THE most efficient way to obtain technical support for TIAH is to use the TIAH Support Forum or the Help Ticket system, both accessible from this site to registered visitors. Follow this link to register.

Q: Is there an online TIAH User or Support forum?
A: Yes - please clink on this link to visit the TIAH support forum. You will need to be a registered on this site in order to access the TIAH-specific forum.

Q: Can TIAH 3.x or TIAH 4.x be used to update or revise exhibits created with TIAH-T (ver. 2.x) or TIAH-S (ver. 1.x)?
A: In a word - no. While some drawings created with an earlier version of TIAH (1.x or 2.x) could be updated with TIAH 3 and later, we do not recommend it. Starting with version 3, TIAH has been re-written from the ground-up in order to provide additional functionality now and in the future. This required some changes in the way TIAH reads and writes data and how it handles the intersection volume symbols. As a result, backwards compatibility had to be sacrificed this one time. Note that subsequent releases of TIAH do maintain compatibility with TIAH 3.0, 3.1, etc., i.e. drawings created with TIAH today will be updatable with future TIAH versions.

Q: Authorization/Registration process - I previously registered my copy of TIAH-T 2.4 via your website - does the current version of TIAH use the same registration method?
A: We have simplified the registration process. TIAH is now registered by sending us an email with a registration request file. That file is created by TIAH through a simple process described in more detail here. Once we receive your request, we will send you a license file which fully enables your copy of the TIAH program.

Q: TIAH cannot find the intersection symbol - what happened?
A:
If TIAH is installed on a computer where TIAH Beta was installed previously AND your default intersection volume symbol was set to a file that no longer exists in the C:\Program Files\TIAH\INTVOL directory, then TIAH will not be able to find it. The fix is simple: before proceeding to insert volumes for the first time, click on the "Block Styles" button on TIAH's main toolbox and set the new default symbol name and path (see screenshots of TIAH 3.1 below).

The toolbox that opens next will allow you to select the intersection symbol style:

Q: Can I customize the look of the intersection volume blocks?
A: The sample intersection symbol blocks provided with TIAH can be customized to suit your preferences. All block and arrows should be placed in their respective TIAH subdirectories to make sure that TIAH can "see" them. These are - C:\Program Files\TIAH\INTVOL and C:\Program Files\TIAH\ARROWS. The following naming convention should be observed to ensure proper operation of the program. Click here for a detailed example or read TIAH Help about block naming convention.

Q: Do Synchro files need any pre-processing before they can be used with TIAH?
A:
In some cases - yes.
(1) If the Synchro volume report file has missing (null) volume values for some movements, TIAH may not know which values are missing. This is due to the way that the volume data file is structured. Data files with missing volume values should be pre-processed to show zero ("0", without parentheses or quotation marks) as a placeholder for where no volume number has been entered in Synchro. NOTE: THIS IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE STARTING WITH TIAH 3.1.1

(2) If the %date% report variable (accessible via the "Header..." button in Synchro's "File > Create Report > Select Reports" interface) is placed to appear as the first header/footer variable (image A below), TIAH may give you an error message. To ensure this doesn't happen, click on the "Header..." button and insert the %date% variable in the 2nd column (image B below). NOTE: THIS IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE STARTING WITH TIAH 3.1.1

(A) This placement of the %date% variable may cause an error message (pre-version 3.1.1)

(B) Placing the %date% variable in the header, 2nd column, will avoid potential problems

Please note: The current release of TIAH has the capability to identify missing (null) volume values and automatically fill the null spaces with zeros. It also bypasses the numeric %date% value regardless of its placement. If you have TIAH 3.0 or TIAH 3.1.0 installed, please download and install the current release.

Q: Will there be a TIAH for MicroStation?
A: Yes. The first release of the MicroStation version of TIAH is available to users upon request. If you use MicroStation to create TIA exhibits and are interested in using TIAH, please contact us at beta@tiahelper.com. In your email, please let us know what version of MicroStation you are using. The version of your MicroStation license is the critical factor as we cannot yet offer TIAH that works with all versions of MicroStation.

Q: Does TIAH support Highway Capacity Software data format?
A: Yes. TIAH supports HCS2000. The next release of TIAH is planned to also support HCS+.

Q: Does it mean anything that my version of TIAH says "Demo Version" in the dialogue box?

A: There are only a few things that can cause this to happen. If any of these are true then you will need to follow the steps to correct them:

Problem: TIAH License file cannot be found
Solution: Place the TIAH License file into the C:\Program Files\TIAH\ folder

Problem: The TIAH License file has been modified
Solution: Replace the current ____.lic file in the C:\Program Files\TIAH\ folder with the one you received from PolyTechCorp in the original registration email.

Problem: The computer that generated the original request for a license file has had hardware configuration changes.
Solution: Notify your TIAH Sales representative of the changes made to the system and they will verify the license file is valid for that hardware configuration.

Problem: The computer system the software is going to be licensed on was not the system that generated the activation request for license file.
Solution: Create an activation request file and submit it to your TIAH Sales representative along with an explanation of the problem.

If any of these solutions do not solve your problem, please let us know as soon as possible so that we might be of further assistance.

Q: When I click on the TIAH menu nothing happens and my AutoCAD command line shows: (startapp "TIAH") nil

A: There are only a couple of things that could be wrong with the installation. First, verify that you have a path to the installation folder on your computer. The TIAH executable file should be located in the C:\Program Files\TIAH\ folder. Depending upon your version of AutoCAD, the procedure will be a little bit different:

On the Tools Menu in AutoCAD select Options, then select the "Files" tab, then select "Support File Search Path", you should see a list of folders, similar to the one shown below:

To verify whether or not the program is having difficulty finding the TIAH.exe file, simply browse to C:\Program Files\TIAH\TIAH.exe and double click on the program icon. The program should start and run normally. If TIAH starts normally, then the problem is likely due to a restriction on the length of the support search path. For more information on this problem, you may read the Autodesk Knowledge Base answers located at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?id=2884947&linkID=2475323&siteID=123112

Q: Can TIAH be moved to another computer?
A: Yes. The TIAH license migration procedure is available starting with TIAH 3.1.0 and is documented in the updated Help file (included with TIAH 3.1 and higher). Note that a nominal charge ($65) will be required to re-register TIAH on a different computer starting with the 2nd migration, to cover administrative costs.

Q: I installed and registered TIAH under the Admin login/account but when I log in as a User, TIAH starts up in Demo mode. How do I fix that?
A: Due to the way MS Windows Registry manages user and program profiles, TIAH should be installed under the User (not Administrator) account for the PC. Just login to the PC under your User account and re-install TIAH. Note that, at least during TIAH installation, your User account needs to have either Admin or Power User permissions. If it does not, do either one of these two things:
1. Temporarily add this User under the Admin group just to this workstation under Computer Management
2. Give this user Power User status so this software can be installed.

Q: TIAH Menu Does Not Load
A: There are a number of reasons why a menu file may not load in AutoCAD. The issues can range from number of support paths to registry issues. The following document sets out the procedure for loading the TIAH menu should it fail be loaded during the install process. (link to a PDF documentUpdated March 1, 2007
